The Beauty of Darkness

Composed by Mary E. Pearson, the Beauty of Darkness is the conclusion to the magical series, Remnant Chronicles! If you haven’t read the first two books, then I suggest you go back and check out my review for those books, spoiler alert!

Recap:

“Hold on, Lia,” I whispered.

Hold on for me.

(Last few lines from the Heart of Betrayal.)

Lia has survived...So has the evil that wants to destroy Morrighan. With war everywhere and Rafe suddenly put into the role of King, Lia finally accepts the role of the first daughter. (She was running away so she wouldn’t have to do that, but now she does that?) With the Komizar now dead (courtesy of Lia) and the way out of Venda destroyed, Rafe and his trustworthy friends think they can spare time for Lia to heal...but Lia pushes them forward because her gift says otherwise.

Rafe and Lia’s love story is on fragile ground (I know what you’re thinking they both fought for each other, so shouldn’t it be better than ever? Well, sorry to burst your bubble; it’s not!) Rafe is bent on making Lia stay with him at Dalbreck, where it’s safe. And Lia, on the other hand, wants to go and warn Morrighan of the dangers coming…

With Betrayal, Romance, Action, Sacrifices, and an endless supply of impossible odds to beat...who will win? Will Rafe and Lia’s relationship ever mend? What happens to Kaden? Will Pauline ever forgive Lia for her betrayal? Who will survive the odds? Who will triumph at last?

(My opinion: I liked this book! I went on a roller coaster of intrigue and suspense...But I’m going to give it a 3.5/5 because I have mixed feelings about this book, I mean, I liked the 1st two books better, and Rafe was kind of mean in the book, and Lia, well, she was Lia...I liked her character development in the book, though. SPOILER ALERT: And the last thing I did not like was Kaden and Pauline’s relationship; I mean, it kind of seemed forced, like the author wanted them paired up together so they wouldn’t be left out. But overall, this book was good! )
