City of Ashes

Written by the American author Cassandra Clare, City of Ashes is exemplary (amazing)! This book is the second book in the bestselling series, The Mortal Instruments. If you haven’t read the first book, then go back now *spoilers ahead.*

Valentine has just summoned a greater demon...A demon that you cannot control...but somehow Valentine did…

The story starts with Jace getting kicked out and later winding up somewhere, somewhere no one would ever go. And as the story progresses, the group (except Alec, who stayed behind with Magnus) went on a trip to find and talk to the Seelie Queen and talk to her about becoming a possible ally.

But that isn’t the most unusual thing that happened that day...People died, and people changed, now the question is, did it happen for good or bad?

And then they are attacked…

Later on, at night, Jace is on and out of the apartment with his newly found vampire bike on the black boat...Which is where he meets Valentine...Who offers him a proposition he won’t be able to refuse...or will he?

The next morning, Clary’s ability is revealed...and while demonstrating it...feelings are told (almost told). And then something happens to Jace, as his secrets are revealed…

Later as the story progresses, kidnappings happen...but this time the kidnappings are not for money...but for blood...

As the group goes on a dangerous heist with a perilous plan to save their friends, Clary is taken...and as her friends battle her kidnapper Clary does something...something that may or may not have killed Valentine…But that’s not all, someone claiming to be her mother’s friend claims she knows how to awaken her mother…

This magical story will leave you hooked and full of broken hearts...Clary and her friends go through betrayal, broken hearts, grief, and sadness. They experience a love bound never to happen...Will they be able to save Clary’s mother on time? Will they be able to survive everything and live another day?
