Keeper Of The Lost Cities (KOTLC)

Written by the American author Shannon Messenger this book is a New York Times bestseller and one of my all-time favorites! This book is an outstanding choice for people who like fiction and fantasy.

This book starts with a 12-year-old girl called Sophie Foster. A know-it-all. Sophie being extraordinarily smart and witty, causes her to be excluded from every group in her school. But Sophie isn’t just unnaturally smart; she can also read minds. Everything changes the day Sophie meets Fitz, a strange teal eyed boy who can also read minds. The teal-eyed boy tells her something, something she has been yearning to hear. She does belong somewhere, but staying with her family will lead to her and her family to be in grave danger.

In the flick of an eye, the world she has known for her entire life is gone, as she is forced to leave behind her human life to start her Elvin one. “Fun, right?” As Sophie is settling in Havenfield, her new home. She meets her new adoptive parents Grady and Edaline...2 elves that have gone through a tragic loss by losing their daughter Jolie in a fire.

As the story progresses, Sophie is enrolled in Foxfire, the most prestigious academy for young elves. She becomes friends with Dex, Marella, and Jensi. But after ruining the cape of her alchemy mentor, she is sent to the physician’s office. While she is going there, she meets the popular, smart, and trouble maker Keefe Sencen.

Unfortunately, Sophie has many problems to deal with, and sadly none of those problems were “normal girl problems.” Sophie is supposed to be the most powerful elf in the world, but all she managed to do was make people hate her before even doing anything.

And then...Sophie and Dex get kidnapped.

Do Sophie and Dex survive? Does Sophie fit in with her new parents, or does she feel like she is intruding because she reminds her adoptive parents of their dead daughter? Does Sophie manage to make some friends at school instead of all of them hating her?
