Heart of Betrayal

I loved this book!!!!! Composed by Mary E. Pearson, This book is the second book in the breath-taking series the Remnant Chronicles!

Note: If you haven’t read the Kiss of Deception, then spoilers ahead!

Recap:

I wiped at my eyes, the real and true blurring.

But I knew this much. He came.

He was here.

And maybe, for now, that was all the truth I needed.

(Last few lines from the kiss of deception.)

The story starts with Lia and Rafe, both meeting the Komizar...They manage to convince him enough to let them live. Still, even Kaden knows Venda rarely spares prisoners, which means they would have to prove themselves worthy again and again.

But the Komizar has taken far more interest in Lia than anyone thought he would. With Lia making friends, the once Venda's alien culture now seemed to be understood more by her. With sneaking around in catacombs with Lia's newly found friend, she finally starts to have hope.

But everything changes the day the Komizar reveals something, something that leaves Kaden, Rafe, and Lia all distraught. With the newfound hope once again lost, Lia realizes that she might never leave Venda. She realizes that she might never see home again. She realizes she might never fulfill the dream she had when she was disguised as a simple tavern maid.

With Lies, betray, and love all blooming in Venda, will Lia and Rafe make it out of the kingdom of Venda? Will Lia learn how to use her power she has all her life ignored? Will Kaden turn out to betray them once more? What will all of them go through in the kingdom of Venda?
