The Hidden Oracle

This book is excellent! I know this is like basically how I start every review, but can you blame me? I read a good book or no book at all...yep, that’s me, anyways back to the review! Written by Rick Riordan, this book is the first in its series Trials of Apollo! It’s an excellent choice for those who like his other books or those who like fantasy, greek mythology, and adventure!

The story starts with Apollo; a god turned into a mortal with no powers whatsoever. Usually, when this happens, he is bound by a demigod and has to finish trials to get his power back...but this time, there will be more saving the world in the trials than easy tests like talking.

Apollo’s old enemy has escaped...In stories, Apollo destroyed his enemy without any trouble, but in reality, it was quite the opposite; it took time and planning to kill his old enemy...and now he was without his powers, stuck to a 12-year-old demigod, and had acne. (Zeus was truly punishing him, acne? That freaked Apollo out a lot…)

There was only one place Apollo could go to for help, a place for modern demigods, Camp Half-Blood!!! Someone needs to face the danger that lurks outside, the danger because of which demigods have been going missing. But how do you send demigods on a quest without prophecies? It’s so easy for gods to send demigods to risk their lives, but Apollo understands now, and his guilt does not help…

With rash decisions like taking oaths, to guilt, betrayal, and friendship...Apollo’s journey is one of a kind. Will he find out what happens to the missing demigods? Will he change from the arrogant god to a kind, humble person who thinks about things other than himself?

(Spoiler: one of my favorite demigods will join us at the end to help Apollo...so look out!)
